HP kini Hadirkan Chromebook 11 dengan Konektivitas 4G LTE

Sebuah opsi baru Chromebook 11 dari Hewlett Packard (HP) kini tersedia di pasaran. Chromebook tersebut kini tersedia dengan pilihan konektivitas 4G LTE. Perangkat yang menggunakan prosesor Samsung Exynos 5250 tersebut dijual dengan banderol 379 USD.

Secara spesifikasi, Chromebook 11 dengan konektivitas 4G LTE tersebut tak jauh berbeda dengan model WiFi-only yang sudah dijual terlebih dulu. Bedanya, Chromebook 11 dilengkapi dengan chip Altair 4G yang mendukung jaringan 4G LTE milik salah satu provider telepon Amerika, yakni Verizon.

Sebagai informasi tambahan, HP Chromebook 11 ini mempunyai layar berukuran 11.6 inci dengan resolusi 1366 x 768 piksel. Di dalamnya, Chromebook ini menggunakan prosesor berbasis ARM dual core Cortex-A15 yang ditunjang oleh RAM 2GB dan penyimpanan berkapasitas 16GB.

Chromebook Google Rajai Pasar Notebook Amerika Serikat

Baru-baru ini, Microsoft cukup gencar melakukan kampanye Scroogled yang ditujukan kepada Google. Chromebook, notebook yang dikembangkan Google dengan sistem operasi Chrome pun turut menjadi target. Dan pada nyatanya, Chromebook ternyata mempunyai potensi besar untuk merongrong dominasi Microsoft di segmen notebook.

Menurut data yang baru saja dirilis oleh NPD dan dikutip dari Neowin, Chromebook Google cukup populer di kalangan konsumen Amerika. Bahkan perangkat berbasis Chrome OS ini mendapatkan porsi yang cukup tinggi, yakni sebesar 21 persen di pasar Amerika serikat.

Dalam laporan tersebut, NPD mengungkapkan kalau dalam 11 bulan di tahun 2013, terdapat sebanyak 1.76 juta unit Chromebook dan tablet yang terjual. Angka tersebut pun jauh meningkat dibandingkan tahun 2012, di mana hanya ada 400 ribu Chromebook dan tablet Android yang laku di pasaran. NPD pun mencatat bahwa Chromebook berhasil memperoleh porsi sebesar 21 persen dari keseluruhan pasar notebook serta angka 8 persen untuk pasar PC dan tablet secara keseluruhan.

Secara keseluruhan, sebanyak 14.4 juta perangkat komputer, notebook serta tablet berhasil terjual di pasar Amerika Serikat. Sementara itu Microsoft berhasil meningkatkan angka penjualan notebook Windows sebesar 10 persen pada tahun ini.

Toshiba Chromebook Resmi Hadir

Toshiba akhirnya secara resmi memperkenalkan Chromebook pertamanya yang memiliki nama Toshiba Chromebook. Chromebook ini pun menawarkan tampilan berukuran 13.3 inci dengan resolusi 1366 x 768 piksel serta prosesor berbasis Intel Haswel.

Seperti Chromebook lainnya, Toshiba Chromebook ini menggunakan Chrome OS. Chromebook milik Toshiba ini pun bakal dijual dengan banderol sebesar 280 USD.

Laptop ini menggunakan prosesor Intel Celeron 2955U yang ditunjang RAM sebesar 2GB. Selain itu terdapat kapasitas penyimpanan sebesar 16GB. Fitur lainnya, terdapat 2 port USB 3.0, port HDMI, slot SD card, WiFi serta Bluetooth.

Chromebook ini juga hadir dengan keyboard full sized. Namun jangan harap perangkat ini mempunyai keyboard backlit ataupun layar sentuh. Sebagai gantinya, Toshiba Chromebook menawarkan baterai yang mampu bertahan hingga 9 jam pemakaian.

Acer Luncurkan Chromebook C720P

Notebook Windows dengan layar sentuh sudah sangat banyak tersedia di pasaran. Namun lain halnya dengan Chromebook yang memakai sistem operasi berbasis web Chrome OS. Saat ini hanya ada satu Chromebook yang hadir dengan layar sentuh, yakni Pixel milik Google. Itu pun dipatok dengan harga yang sangat mahal, mulai dari 1299 USD.

Kini, Acer yang baru saja melakukan pergantian pejabat tingginya, meluncurkan Chromebook dengan layar sentuh dan berlabel murah. Chromebook tersebut adalah Acer C720P yang memiliki layar sentuh 11.6 inci dengan resolusi 1366 x 768 piksel. Sama-sama berlayar sentuh, Chromebook ini ditawarkan dengan harga sebesar 299 USD.

Dengan selisih harga yang jauh, spesifikasi Acer C720P ini pun sangat berbeda dengan Chromebook Pixel. Chromebook ini hadir dengan prosesor Intel Celeron 2955U Haswell yang ditunjang oleh RAM 2GB dan berkapasitas sebesar 32GB. Ada pula dukungan penyimpanan awan Google Drive sebesar 100GB selama 2 tahun.

Menariknya, Chromebook ini juga menawarkan baterai yang cukup tahan lama, hingga 7.5 jam. Bobot Chromebook ini juga tak terlalu berat, yakni sebesar 1.35 kilogram. Menurut rencana, pihak Acer akan mulai memasarkan Chromebook ini pada Desember mendatang melalui Amazon, BestBuy serta toko online milik Acer sendiri.

Google dan HP Tarik Seluruh Charger Chromebook 11

Google dan HP baru saja memutuskan untuk menarik seluruh charger Chromebook 11 yang saat ini ada di pasaran. Selain itu, mereka pun mengimbau kepada para pemilik HP Chromebook 11 untuk segera menukarkan charger miliknya secara cuma-cuma.

Kebijakan itu dilakukan setelah terjadi hal yang tak mengenakkan terkait charger tersebut. Bahkan menurut data Consumer Product Safety Comission, sudah ada sembilan orang yang melaporkan kepada perusahaan kalau charger miliknya overheating pada saat dipakai. Sembilan orang tersebut pun melaporkan kalau chargernya bahkan meleleh akibat panas yang ditimbulkan.

Menurut kabar yang dilansir dari PC World, seorang pengguna Chromebook 11 dilaporkan mengalami luka bakar akibat kejadian tersebut. Tak hanya itu, charger Chromebook 11 itu juga dilaporkan telah merusak bantal milik salah seorang pemiliknya lainnya.

Charger yang bermasalah tersebut terdapat pada Chromebook 11 yang dibeli sebelum tanggal 1 Desember. Sebelumnya pada pertengahan November, Google dan HP telah menghentikan penjualan Chromebook di pasaran karena adanya permasalahan ini.

Untuk memperoleh charger pengganti, pemilik Chromebook 11 bisa memilih formulir yang disediakan Google secara online. Dan untuk sementara waktu, Google menyarankan kepada para pemilik Chromebook 11 untuk memakai charger micro USB yang biasa digunakan pada tablet ataupun smartphone.

Dalam data yang diungkapkan Consumer Product Safety Comission juga terungkap angka penjualan Chromebook 11. Data tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa Google dan HP akan menarik sebanyak 145 ribu unit charger Chromebook 11 yang ada di tangan para pemiliknya. Untuk sebuah perusahaan sebesar HP dan Google, angka 145 ribu tersebut tentunya bukan angka yang besar.
